Immunisations are recommended for babies and children to build their immune system and protect them from certain diseases. These diseases can be harmful, but your baby or child can be protected with the course of immunisations. By having the course of immunisations, this builds up the amount of protection. It also protects others by reducing the number of cases. Your baby or child will be invited to your GP practice when the immunisations are due.
