Tameside Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP) is a group of local parents, community organisations, maternity staff, health visitors and commissioners working together to represent the voices of women, birthing people, their partners and families to improve and develop maternity services across Tameside.

We work together to make sure our local maternity services in Tameside best meet the needs of our local community.
We hold quarterly meetings throughout the year where we meet as a collective to look at and review maternity services, to discuss any recent projects or initiatives that we have collaborated on, and to provide feedback from parents on their experiences.
We believe that everyone should have a voice and be able to feedback on their maternity experience.  The aim of Tameside Maternity Voices Partnership is to input into the improvement and development of maternity services.

We don’t handle individual complaints but we do look for themes in the feedback we receive from you and then we use this to collaborate with maternity and neonatal staff, mums, dads and parents like you, to co-produce service improvements and make changes that matter to you.

Some of the projects that we are currently working on include;

  • Helping design the new Midwifery Led Unit
  • Working to create a robust birth debrief service
  • Working with maternity staff to achieve Better Births aims for Continuity of Carer
  • Supporting maternity services to develop inclusive guidance to specifically support Trans and Non Binary service users.

There are a number of ways in which you can get involved with the Maternity Voices Partnership in Tameside. How much or how little is really up to you!

We are always looking for people to join us as Service User Representatives – if you have given birth within Tameside in the last 24 months and would like to have some input into helping shape the maternity service of the future, then joining as a Service User Representative is a great way to do this.

Some of the ways you can get involved is;

  • come to our quarterly meetings
  • attend our service user meetings – some online, some in person
  • follow us on social media and share what we are doing
  • share your experience and/or feedback
  • attend a 15 steps event
  • support us at awareness events
  • tell others about what we do
